2010 Official Preview Program

Each year, SpinSheet publishes the Official Preview Program for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race (GCBSR) as an insert in the October Boat Show issue. This comprehensive program includes ads from race sponsors; a listing of all sponsors and volunteers; a schedule of events in Maryland and Virginia; a history of the GCBSR; a description of the education program; photos, ratings and descriptions of all schooners that have entered the current year's race (prior to publishing deadline); and the results from the previous year's race.

Advertising

The October issue of SpinSheet is distributed on October 1 — 30,000 copies are distributed through more than 750 outlets. 10,000 copies are distributed at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis. The insert is funded by advertising from race sponsors. Ad pricing is $415 for 1/8 page; $595 for 1/4 page; $1,105 for 1/2 page; and $1,770 for a full page ad. With a 6:1 readership, 240,000 readers see this SpinSheet insert, so the "per reader" cost of an ad is only $0.002 to $0.008 per person. A PDF copy of the Official Preview Program — which includes all ads — is posted to this Web site for at least 12 months at no extra charge. The deadline for advertising is September 1.

If you would like to promote your business or schooner in the 2011 Official Preview Program, please contact Dave at hollydrive@aol.com or 443.994.5214.

Download the 2011 advertising rate card for pricing and ad specs. Additional guidelines to assist in the design of your ad can be found on the SpinSheet Web site.

Schooner Listings

The listing for each schooner consists of a photo, race class, rating, home port, owner, captain, Web address, previous GCBSR races and a short — around 90 words — narrative description. Photos and schooner descriptions should be sent to race@schoonerrace.org.
